Jacob Mills

Jacob joined Gray’s Inn Tax Chambers as a tenant in October 2025 on completion of his pupillage and accepts instructions concerning all areas of taxation. He has experience shadowing his supervisors in the specialist tax tribunals all the way through to the Supreme Court in a range of proceedings from trials in the FTT to judicial reviews in the High Court. Jacob has also worked for members of chambers on a broad range of tax issues both advisory and contentious and he is equipped to assist where a tax question engages other areas of law.

Jacob became interested in tax law as an undergraduate student coming top of his year in the subject. He was subsequently awarded a scholarship to study for a postgraduate degree in taxation where he worked alongside lawyers, accountants and revenue officials from across the world. He is currently completing the Chartered Tax Adviser exams (indirect tax).

Outside of chambers Jacob continues to organise the National Sixth Form Moot in Wales. This event provides free-access to sixth form students across Wales to experience mooting and legal seminars in a university-style environment. Jacob always runs a seminar on tax law which the students consistently rate highly in the post-attendance surveys (although the copious number of Jaffa cakes handed out may well be doing a lot of the heavy lifting on that front).
