Jacob accepts instructions concerning all areas of taxation. He has acted for clients in a broad range of tax cases, both advisory and contentious, and is equipped to accept instructions where a tax question engages other areas of law. Whether a client is looking for advice on a proposed transaction, representation in a dispute with HMRC, or anything in between, Jacob prides himself on being able to assist in a practical and outcome-oriented manner. He is also authorised to accept instructions on a Public Access basis.
Jacob became interested in tax law as an undergraduate student coming top of his year in the subject. He was subsequently awarded a scholarship to study for a postgraduate degree in taxation where he worked alongside lawyers, accountants and revenue officials from across the world. As such, Jacob is regularly instructed in cases with an international flavour, particularly those involving cross-border transactions or restructuring. Jacob regularly delivers lectures and conducts round table discussions relating to current issues in tax law – please email clerks@taxbar.com if your firm or association would be interested in attending or hosting a talk with Jacob.
Outside of chambers Jacob continues to organise the National Sixth Form Moot in Wales. This event provides free-access to sixth form students across Wales to experience mooting and legal seminars in a university-style environment. Jacob runs these events alongside colleagues with various specialisms at the bar but is believably informed that students consider his tax law seminar the most enjoyable.
